JQ Cemeteries Project
A heritage and conservation project dedicated to preserving and restoring Key Hill and Warstone Lane Cemetery in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter. An important part of Birmingham’s industrious heritage these burial grounds are the final resting places of many important figures and today provide beautiful green space within the city. The project needed a visual identity to promote the work being done and to attract visitors to these sites.
Creating a brand identity
Alongside the restoration work, there will also be an extensive programme of events celebrating the heritage, natural environment and community value of the cemeteries. It was important to create a brand identity that could flex to adapt to a range of audiences from academics to young children, whilst being sympathetic to the subject matter.
Rolling out the brand
The project is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, Birmingham City Council and the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust. Work started in 2019 and the ambitious plans are well underway with a programme of events and plans to re-vitalise the cemeteries.
